The Davidson Academy sent two teams to compete in the 34th annual Nevada Science Bowl in Las Vegas on February 1st. For the third consecutive year, the final round of the 24-team tournament was an all-Davidson showdown.
The team of Alexander Weaver, Filip Ramazan, Julian Kuang, Lucas Wu, and Yajur Chandar claimed 1st place, earning $5,000 in prize money and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC, to represent the Academy at the National Science Bowl this spring. In 2nd place, earning $3,000, was the team of Dallin Guisti, Ethan Chan, Kaison Fong, Sawyer VanZanten, and Shayan Sattarvand.
This victory marks the sixth consecutive Nevada Science Bowl title for the Davidson Academy.
Additionally, the Davidson Academy Middle School Science Bowl team of Gavin Song, Justin Guo, Riaan Govind, Tymon Tao, and Yuktha Boyapati competed in the Nationwide Virtual Middle School Science Bowl on February 15th securing 1st place in their region and 3rd place overall.
This marks their fifth consecutive year qualifying for the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C.
