Having competed in their regional Science Bowl in February and the National Science Bowl Semi-finals in May, the Davidson Academy Middle School team (Ahana Mukhopadhyay, Alexander Weaver, Ethan Chan, Lucas Wu, and Yajur Chandar) was one of 9 teams invited to participate in the National Science Bowl Finals in Washington, DC in July.
They spent 5 days taking in the sights of the nation’s capital, as well as competing against the top teams in the country. The Davison Academy took 2nd place in the Cyber Challenge and 2nd place in a lab challenge involving making a battery. After 12 head-to-head matches, they also finished in 4th place in the actual Science Bowl competition (the main event). This was the best finish ever for a Davidson Academy Science Bowl team (in either middle or high school) and was the result of countless hours of study and practice. A huge congratulations to the Ahana, Alexander, Ethan, Lucas, and Yajur for their stellar performance!
